Anna Zhamakochyan

President, co-founder

Anna Zhamakochyan is one of Socioscope NGO’s co-founders. She is a sociologist, a media discourse researcher, and is interested in ideology studies. For Anna, media and ideology critic is a mechanism of social change.  Anna also has professional interest in contemporary art (artivism) in Armenia and has curating experience.

Sona Manusyan

Co-founder, researcher

Sona Manusyan is a founding member of Socioscope. Sona holds a Ph.D. in psychology and is an assistant professor at Yerevan State University. Her research interests center on personal and collective identities and, broadly speaking, the personal-public relationship, in particular as manifested in civic and ethno-cultural processes. Sona is also engaged with questions of qualitative methodology. She has participated in several international academic programs and study visits. She also provides translation services from English to Armenian and vice versa.

 Arpy Manusyan

Projects coordinator, researcher

Arpy Manusyan graduated from Yerevan State University with a master’s degree in sociology in 2012. She has been involved in Socioscope’s research projects since 2008. The main scope of her professional interests is civic movements and contentious politics in Armenia, the history of local social science, the interrelations of local literature and social science, and the issues of sexuality. She has been studying the media discourses on human rights, civic movements and political ideologies for many years.

Mariam Khalatyan

Project assistant, researcher

Mariam Khalatyan graduated from Yerevan State University with a master’s degree in Sociological Research Methodology. Mariam has been involved in Socioscope’s activities since 2016. From 2017 she has joint the team as project assistant.Professional interests include migration processes and issues in Armenia, current issues of civil society, issues of sexuality in medieval Armenia.

In 2018 Mariam has attended courses of “Art Criticism and Curatorial Studies School” at the Institute of Contemporary Art as a listener.

Agapi Ivanyan

Administrative assistant

Agipi Ivanyan graduated from the Armenian State University of Economics in 2000. In 2004 she earned her master’s degree in business administration at the American University of Armenia. She has experience in accounting and human resources management. Agapi is working in Socioscope as an administrative assistant since 2018.

Sona Mamikonyan


A graduate of Yerevan State Engineering University in 2005, Sona Mamikonyan later has requalified as financial analyst and accountant and has worked with various organizations both in the private and the civic sector. Sona has joined Socioscope in 2013 as accountant.

Zhanna Andreasyan

Projects director

Zhanna, with a Ph.D. in sociology, joined the Socioscope team in 2013 as a project director. Zhanna has a solid experience in evaluation and management of educational programs, as well as years of teaching experience at Yerevan State University, Dept. of sociology. Her professional interests focus on social transformations and shadow sociology in the Post-Soviet countries.

Zhanna has been working in the Socioscope team from 2013 to 2019.

Eduard Danielyan

Human rights specialist and difender

Eduard Danielyan holds a master’s degree from the “Human integration, civic education and legal mechanisms” program of the International School of Human Rights Moscow.

He is a human rights defender who has been carrying out observation missions in various areas of human rights from 2010 on. His has worked as an expert and monitoring specialist in areas of torture and other cruel, inhuman or human-degrading treatment, monitoring on freedom of religion/confession, and court monitoring.

Eduard has been working in the Socioscope team from 2015 to 2019.

Anahit Harutyunyan

Researcher, project assistant

Anahit Harutyunyan has a master’s degree in sociology from Yerevan State University. Anahit’s research interests focus on tolerance and human rights. During the years of working at Socioscope Anahit has been involved in a number of qualitative and quantitative research projects on the media coverage of human rights, monitoring of political processes, and identifying legal needs in Armenia.

Anahit has been working in the Socioscope team from 2013 to 2017.
