This report is based on Armine Ishkhanyan’s extensive qualitative field researches conducted during her three visits to Armenia. The research was assisted by the Socioscope team. The report examines the recent social mobilization of civil society groups in Armenia on environmental issues. In particular, it focuses on organized civil society campaigns against the mining industry in the country. The report examines the achievements, challenges, and obstacles of civil society in Armenia. It aims at contributing to the debate on the country’s mining industry, as well as on broader socio-economic and political developments in Armenia and in different diaspora communities.
